Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash

Cleansing my face is an important part of my routine. I remove my make up every day and I love to go to bed with a clean, makeup-free face. I also think it's important to remove all your makeup at the end of the day, because it will do more harm than good. Did you know that a dermatologist can tell if you do of do not remove your makeup before going to sleep just looking at your skin? Keep reading if you want to know if I think that the Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash is a good product!
I always love to take a look at Philosophy's products in stores. Their packaging is so simple, yet they look so sophisticated, cute and luxurious. I have heard many great things about this facial wash and I wanted to test it out. I had this for a while, but I had to finish my previous face wash first.

I have been using this facial wash for a few months now and I think I have been using it long enough to be writing a review about it. First I was a bit hesitant to use this product, because I couldn't really use it with my Clarisonic. This face wash contains some sort of micro particles for exfoliation and that don't go well with a Clarisonic. I have set my Clarisonic aside until I finish this face wash.

What does Philosophy say about this product? This is what I have found on their website:
the microdelivery micro-massage exfoliating treatment wash is a mild, exfoliating facial cleanser designed to effectively cleanse the skin while providing resurfacing benefits. gentle enough to use daily, this unique formula is sulfate-free and formulated with ingredients designed to replenish and protect the skin with topical antioxidants, as it helps condition the skin and retain its moisture level.
There's a video and instructions on how to use the product. You apply the product to a slightly damp face and massage for thirty to sixty seconds, then rinse thoroughly. I can be used in the AM or the PM. Follow with appropriate treatment and moisturizer.

Philosophy claims that "a 30-second cleansing mini peel that can be conducted in the shower, in the bath or at your bathroom sink regular exfoliation helps buffer fine lines, even skin tone, and give the skin a healthy glow gentle enough for daily use". Sounds promising, right?!

Let's start with the packaging. The packaging is simple, I like how they always print the name of their product in a special way on the packaging and add their philosophy of the product too. I like!

You have to push the cap to get an opening and through that opening you squeeze out the product. I don't like these caps, because they always tend to get dirty with dried up products and such around the opening.

When you press the cap, up comes the opening.

As you can see on the picture above, there's product dried up around the opening and it just doesn't look that clean. These caps always tend to get messy with me, so I much prefer flip-top caps with a small opening, but that's me.

Anyway, you squeeze out the product (I squeeze out a dime-sized amount) and apply it to your face. I use this at nighttime, when I'm in the shower. This is my second cleanse. I wet my face with water, squeeze out some product, rub it with both my hands and than kind of give my face a gentle massage with the product.

At first I just rubbed it over my face until I covered every area of my face and rinsed it off. I didn't really like the product, because I felt like it did little for my skin. After a few days of usage I rubbed my face longer with it, because, I thought, a Clarisonic runs for one minute, so I'll probably should be cleansing my face with this for an even amount of time for good results.

While rubbing my face I can feel the small particles on my face, as if they're very gently exfoliating my face. This face wash is not packed with those particles, but I think there's just enough in it for a gentle exfoliation, perfect, in my opinion. There's no perfume in it and I don't mind that. I have to say the smell isn't really pleasant, but it doesn't bother me either. I can imagine that some people really don't like the smell of this. But after rinsing it off, I can't smell it lingering on my face. After gently exfoliating my face with this facial wash I rinse it off with water. While exfoliating, I can feel that my face feels very smooth and after rinsing the face wash off my face feels very smooth. It doesn't make my skin feel tight whatsoever.

My skin feels polished and soft and I have to say I love this face wash more and more! I do miss my Clarisonic, but I don't want to over exfoliate my face. I feel like the Clarisonic works better in terms of getting rid of my clogged pores, but maybe I should try cleansing my nose more thoroughly with the Philosophy facial wash.

If you're interested, here are the ingredients: aqua/water/eau, sodium cocoyl apple amino acids, solum diatomeae/diatomaceous earth/terre de diatomees, glycerin, acrylates/sterareth-20 methacrylate copolymer, acryates copolymer, decyl glucoside, disodium coco-amphodiacetate, phenoxyethanol, lauryl glucoside, borage officinalis seed oil, lithium magnesium sodium silicate, sodium hydroxide, decylene glycol, citric acid, ethylhexylglycerin, helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, panthenol, 1,2-hexanediol, tetrasodium edta, tocopherol, tocotrienols, triolein, trilinolein, methylisothiazolinone, methylchloroisothiazolinone.

The ingredients look fine to me. I am very satisfied with this product and I think it's worth every penny. It works much better than the drugstore facial scrubs. It's very gentle for my skin in contrast to the drugstore ones. You only get one face in a lifetime and to use products that are more expensive, but bring me great joy using them, is totally worth the price.

Though I am not saying that there is anything wrong with cheaper products that work perfectly for your skin. But for me, the cheaper products I used were way too aggressive and drying for my skin.
