FIRST IMPRESSIONS: PHILOSOPHY'S RENEWED HOPE IN A JAR MICRORENEWAL HYDRATING MIST

It's time for a First Impressions! I haven't done any first impressions on my blog yet, so this is my first First Impressions! As you can see from the title and the picture, it's about the renewed hope in a jar microrenewal hydrating mist by philosophy. Find out more about this spray after the click :D.

I had this mist for quite some time now. I bought it somewhere last year or maybe even two years ago and I don't know why, but I totally forgot about the spray. When I ran out of toner, I bought the Paula's Choice toner and used that one. Then I ran out of toner again and I remembered I had this face mist, because I was cleaning my makeup drawers.

So, finally, I am using the renewed hope in a jar microrenewal hydrating mist by philosophy. I looked this face mist up and I saw that they have changed the packaging a bit, the spritzer is not black anymore, but white.

The mist has a not fully opaque, white color and the liquid is a bit thicker than water. I don't know why, but it gives me the feeling that there's a lot of good stuff in this spray. I like to shake the spray before usage, but it isn't stated on the packaging that you should shake it before use.

The spritzer doesn't really give a fine mist and I hope that the new packaging gives a better mist. It's coming out like a vertical stream of liquid. So I don't like the spray it directly on my face, I spritz it 2-3 times in the palm of my hands and I pat it on my face. This spray does contain perfume (and it's pretty high up in the ingredients list) and it reminds me of their Loveswept perfume (which I own).

The mist is part of their renewed hope in a jar line and has some seriously good sounding claims:
"feel instantly renewed, anytime, anywhere. this refreshing facial mist re-energizes skin, imparting a dewy radiance and lasting hydration to skin with or without makeup. formulated with a liquid blend of renewed hope's exclusive non-stop skin renewal technology, 80% of women felt skin was hydrated with a fresh, dewy glow throughout the day.* *based on a 1-week self-assessment study with 36 women"
I have checked the ingredients with the ingredients listed on their website for the new packaging and it's exactly the same, so I guess they've only changed up the packaging a bit.

Here's the list of ingredients for those who are interested:

aqua/water/eau, butylene glycol, caprylic/capric triglyceride, glycerin, peg-60 hydrogenated castor oil, caprylyl glycol, 1,2-hexanediol, cyclopentasiloxane, chlorphenesin, parfum/fragrance, pentylene glycol, dimethiconol, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, adenosine, sodium hyaluronate, sodium hydroxide, phenoxyethanol, limonene, citral, citric acid, mandelic acid, tocopheryl acetate, ethylhexyl palmitate, propanediol, glycolic acid, bht, evodia rutaecarpa fruit extract, faex/yeast extract/extrait de levure, opuntia coccinellifera flower extract, silica dimethyl silylate, ethylhexylglycerin, hyaluronic acid, silanetriol, sorbic acid, hexylene glycol, titanium dioxide (ci 77891).

I don't really like the fact that perfume is pretty high in the list of ingredients instead of at the bottom of the list.

How to use the spray: hold 10-20 inches from face, close eyes and spray. Use throughout the day as needed.

I don't know why, but on the website the sunburn alert isn't there, while there is an alert on my spray, I don't know about the new packaging.

The alert:
"sunburn alert: this product contains an alpha hydroxy acid (aha) that may increase your skin's sensitivity to the sun and particularly the possibility of sunburn. use a sunscreen, wear sun protective clothing, and limit sun exposure while using this product and for a week afterwards."
I am currently using an AHA exfoliant, so I guess I can put that one aside for a while so I won't be over exfoliating my skin. I haven't really done much research on the ingredients list, but I see some hydrating ingredients in there en glycolic acid sure helps to make your skin look and feel smoother due to its exfoliating properties.

The spray feels refreshing on the face and like I said before, it smells a bit like their Loveswept perfume and like a moisturizer. I don't know how the renewed hope in a jar moisturizer smells, but I guess it might smell pretty much the same. It also reminds me of another product that I (have) used, but whatever it is, it doesn't come to my mind at the moment.

After I've patted it into my skin, my skin feels fresh, soft, smooth and moisturized. Only a face mist is not enough to moisturize my face, of course, but it is a start.

So far, I like it, but I don't like the spritzer, I just spray it in the palm of my hands and apply it to my face. So using it throughout the day while I'm wearing makeup is not really an option for me. Maybe I can pour some in my empty spray where I put my Paula's Choice toner in, so I'll get an even, fine mist.
