MAC Matte Lipstick in Kinda Sexy

I love wearing lip colors. Though I do not do it everyday, I love the extra glam a lip color gives me. Through the years I have learnt that I like matte formulas, because they tend to stay on longer. But let's talk about this lipstick, shall we?
After matte liquid lipsticks, matte lipsticks are my favorites. Nowadays almost every brand has a matte lipstick line and I am not mad about that. My first matte lipstick was one of MAC. I was so impressed! Finally a lipstick that doesn't leave my entire lipstick of the day on water bottles and cups. I loved it.

I bought MAC's Kinda Sexy a while ago. Past few years I am into nudes, pinks and reds. Nothing too crazy. I ordered it online and I didn't really know what the color would look like on my lips, but I took the chance and ordered this color.

Look at that virgin lipstick 😍😍
The lipstick applies very creamy and kind of dries up matte. Matte lipsticks are pretty drying on the lips, so make sure to moisturize your lips before applying matte lipsticks. Applying this lipstick on dried lips is not a good idea, because it will show and that does not look pretty, you can see it it on the pictures below. My lips are not dry, but they're not fully hydrated either. They're almost dry. You can see the almost-flakes a bit on the bottom lip. As for the scent: this lipstick smells like any other MAC lipstick: it has a kind of vanilla-y smell.

Kinda Sexy on my lips
The colors in the picture don't really portrait a perfect match of the color in real life. In real life the lipstick looks more pink/brown/nude-ish. In the picture it looks more like a coral-y/orange color. The shots of my lips aren't an exact color match either. The pictures are shot with different cameras as you probably can tell. The battery of my camera died, so I used my phone to take some shots of my lips. I don't really like the camera of my phone, the pictures always turn out too blue. In real life the colors aren't as pink as it shows on the picture, but it's more of a coral/orange color. The color is somewhere in between the shots of the lipstick and my lips.

I like the formula of the lipstick, it applies smooth if you don't have dry lips. (Tip: do not apply this to dry lips, it feels like you are ripping your lips apart. Somehow the lipstick applies less creamy when you have dry lips.) It stays on for a couple of hours if you go without eating or drinking. After a meal, a touch up is recommended (by yours truly). You don't want to walk around with half of your lips missing lipstick ;). It doesn't last as long as a liquid lipstick, because it doesn't set like a liquid lipstick on your lips.

I'm not sure if I like the color on me. I don't tend to go for this color that often, so it's save to say that I am not a huge fan of this color on me. It's a bit too orange or brown for my liking. Too bad. Mixing this color with red does give me a nice old rose red color which I love.

So, final verdict: like the formula, not a huge fan of the color.
