In my Clinique Moisture Surge haul I told you that I bought a few products of that line. I was still using the Garnier 3-in-1 balm, but I felt like it didn't moisturize my skin enough. I wanted more moisture. So I decided to open up the mini size of the Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator, which I could refill with moisturizers from full size packagings, ideal for traveling and saving space in my bathroom! I have been using this moisturizer for a couple of week now and I think it's time to write a review about it.

This cute packaging contains 15 ml (.5 oz.) of product. The packaging is stern and the cap twists smoothly (which I think is 'important' since you do pay for the packaging and not only the product). When you open the jar, there's an extra lid inside. It helps to keep the product in the jar and not on the cap. I like to keep these extra lids, so when I travel I won't end up finding my moisturizer inside the cap, the problem you have with most moisturizers from the drugstore. That can get dirty after a while, because the product just sits there, drying out and collecting dust little by little, because you can't really get into the grooves and removing the product there.

The packaging is, as you can see a clear bottle with a metallic cap. Very simple and Clinique. The moisturizer itself has a peachy color and a gel-like texture. It's not the same as the Garnier HydraBomb night gel-cream, the HydraBomb gel-cream is more watery. The Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing moisturizer is less 'stiff' (when scooping out the HydraBomb gel-cream the gel-cream in the jar leaves a 'trail' which exactly shows where the gel-cream was scooped out) and feels richer than the HydraBomb gel.

The 72-hour moisturizer does not have a scent, none of Clinique's products has perfume in it, I like that. Sometimes I do like a nice scent in my skincare, but I wouldn't mind if every company would stop using perfume in their skincare products, since putting perfume on your face is not the best thing to do.

Enough about the looks, what does Clinique say about this product?

Well, that sounds very promising and it is also suitable for all skin types. I have to say, I don't know about the 72-hour thing, since I use moisturizer at least two times a day, morning and night.

I apply the moisturizer every night and morning and after a few days I immediately noticed that my skin felt softer than when I was using the Garnier 3-in-1 balm. Especially when I was cleansing my face in the shower with Philosophy's Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash, I could feel that my skin was much softer, not per se on the surface, but in the deeper layers. I can't really explain it very well, but it feels soft almost through and through, while the Garnier 3-in-1 balm made my skin soft in a more superficial way.

The 72-hour moisturizer applies very smoothly and a little bit goes a long way. A tiny bit spreads over the skin very well. It doesn't feel cold or cooling, like the HydraBomb gel-cream, but it feels very moisturizing. It's like applying a non greasy melted balm on your skin, it's amazing.

The thing I have with gel-creams is that I really love them, but I find that they're often not moisturizing enough, because there's a lot of water in them for the texture. I barely find any moisturizers with a gel-like texture that intensely moisturizes my skin and makes it look plump and nourished, but this one fits the bill.

After a few days my skin was already feeling soft and smooth. I didn't expect to like this moisturizer this much, because I usually like very rich moisturizers on my face in the night, preferably those that leave a nourishing layer on my skin. With this moisturizer I don't miss that one single bit.

With that little bit shown in the picture above I could cover the entire palms of my hand. After rubbing/massaging it in for a very short while, the moisturizer was absorbed into the skin and left the skin looking moisturized and nourished.

I absolutely love this moisturizer and I'm happy that I got the big size of it as well. You can also use it as a 5-minute mask, by applying a more layer on your face and leaving it on for.. yes, 5 minutes. I think this moisturizer and I are going to have a lot of fun. It's works great, multi-functional and the size I have is travel friendly.

There are several sizes you can buy this moisturizer in: 15 ml, 30 ml, 50 ml and 75 ml. I suggest you go pick yours up now.
